Judy Mine
A former Hg mine located 5.8 km (3.6 miles) NNW of Wilbur Springs, in the headwaters area of the East Fork Sulphur Creek. The grid reference is centered on the middle pit. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
A Hg deposit hosted along a fault zone in hydrothermally altered serpentinite, which is cut by numerous quartz and chaledony veins. Cinnabar occurs as fine grained masses in fractures and as disseminations in low angle faults and shear zones. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 3 (Coast Ranges and Western Klamath Mountains).
The workings consist of three open pits, a north, a middle and a south pit.
Produced 400 flasks of mercury during the late 1960s and early 1970s.
