Grey Eagle Mine


A former Cu occurrence/mine located in sec. 20, T16N, R6W, MDM, 4.3 km (2.6 miles) SW of Cooks Mountain, on the divide between the South Fork Mill Creek and the Middle Fork Mill Creek, on National Forest land. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.

NOTE: The MRDS database file lists this mine as the "Grey Eagle," while Murdoch & Webb (1966) list it as the "Gray Eagle."

Mineralization is a vein Cu deposit hosted in serpentinite. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 3 (Coast Ranges and Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings include surface and underground openings to an overall depth of 6.1 meters. They are comprised of open cuts and a 20 foot shaft plus a 200 foot tunnel which does not reach the vein in depth.
