An former U occurrence/claim/mine located in sec. 30, T25N, R23E, G&SRM, 7.1 km (4.4 miles) NNE of Bidahochi, on the southern rim of Red Clay Mesa.
Mineralization is a finely disseminated ore body 45.72 meters long hosted in siltstone, sandstone, limestone of the Upper member of the Tertiary Bidahochi Formation, shale and tuff with chert and evaporites. Ore-grade rock occurs where the beds above an unconformity are sharply flexed. The identity of the U mineral is not apparent either megascopically or petrographically. Some copper mineralization is present. The beds are tilted toward the center of the diatreme. Associated rocks include Pliocene basalt. Local rocks include rocks of the Glen Canyon Group.
Production statistics: Year: 1959 (period = 1954-1959): 192 tons of ore at ^0.15% U3O8; 0.04% V2O5; and 0.75-1.00% P2O5 (makes alkaline leach difficult).
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of a rim cut and a short adit on the SE rim of the diatreme.
