The locality Ialamitana consists of several pegmatites, of which only a few have been exploited. One of the workings has produced green, opaque beryls, and the Antsotsara pegmatite, which is close by, has produced good up to 3 cm large, well-shaped trapezohedra of red garnets (almandine-spessartine series) and good crystals of "strüverite". It is located in a mountainous area 2 km east of Isahanivotry (south of Antsirabe), near the Manandona Valley and close to the Vorondolo Massif.

The locality is most probably the one referred to as "a new almandine garnet locality" situated "6 km southeast of the Manandona and 30 km south of Antsirabe" by Moore (1997, 1998). Many good pieces were found here in 1996.

The name Ialamaitana is a misnomer (spelling mistake).

Note on the mineral list: Samples labelled as "strüverite" from this locality are identified as ilmenorutile. See message board at https://www.mindat.org/mesg-556616.html#570104
