An former U-V occurrence/mine located in the approximate common corners of secs. 20, 21, 28, 29, T33N, R23E, G&SRM, 0.8 miles NE of Taasahdi Dzil (summit) (coordinates of record), adjacent to Claim 27. Largest U producer from the Black Mountain area.
Mineralization is tyuyamunite, metahewettite and clay in pods hosted in Late Cretaceous sandstone. Local rocks include sedimentary rocks of the Late Cretaceous Mesaverde Group. Carnotite occurs in quartzose Toreva Formation sandstone beneath carbonaceous siltstone.
Workings include open pits and rim cuts with an adit from the pit wall. Site drilled extensively.
Production was 4,181 tons @0.21% U3O8; 0.16% V2O5 (1957-1958, 1966-1968).
Analysis data results: 0.76% e U3O8; 0.72% U3O8, 0.27% V2O5; 1.3% CaCO3.
