A former U-V occurrence/mine located in approximately sec. 28 & 29, T33N, R23E, G&SRM, 0.7 km (0.4 mile) WNW of Taasahdi Dzil (coordinates of record) (on the SW base of the summit). T & R values are not presented for this locality. Detected by air survey.
Mineralization is tyuyamunite and metahewettite with clay in pods hosted in Late Cretaceous sandstone. The ore body is 1.52 meters wide and 60.96 meters long. Local rocks include Cretaceous sedimentary rocks.
Carnotite is associated with carbon matter, as halos around limonite, disseminated interstitially and as paint with vanadium mineral coatings in a light gray sandstone about 10 feet thick and 250 feet above Mancos contact in the Toreva Formation.
Workings include surface openings comprised of open pits and rim cuts.
Analytical data results: 0.10-0.61% e U3O8; 0.08-0.66% U3O8; 0.05-0.25% V2O5; 0.4-0.8% CaCO3. Channel samples show 0.8% CaCO3.
