A former U-V occurrence/mine located in approximate secs. 8 & 17, T36N, R29E, G&SRM, 2.1 km (1.3 miles) SE of White Ash Peak and 2½ miles SE of Mexican Cry Mesa. Operated by Climax Uranium Company.
Mineralization is tyuyamunite in lenticular masses hosted in Late Jurassic mudstone and sandstone of the Salt Wash Member of Morrison Formation. The zone is 3 feet thick and 150-200 feet below surface. Ore bodies occur in units showing the most rapid variation in thickness in the Salt Wash member of the Morrison formation. Local rocks include Oligocene to Paleocene[?] sedimentary rocks.
Workings include underground openings comprised of 8 adits with track and 1,200 feet of underground room and pillar workings.
Production was 75,739 tons @0.25% U3O8; 1.15% V2O5 (1952-1963,1965-1967).
Some low-grade mineralization may remain.
