A former U-V occurrence/mine located in approximate secs. 6 & 7, T40N, R28E, G&SRM , 4.1 km (2.5 miles) NNW of Black Rock Point (coordinates of record) and 1.0 miles E of Tsitah Wash. T&R values are not presented for this location.
Mineralization is tyuyamunite in irregular tabular layers hosted in Late Jurassic claystone, siltstone and sandstone of the Salt Wash member of the Morrison Formation on the NE side of the Toh Atin anticline. Ore is found in clusters, usually associated with carbonaceous detritus. Calcite partly cements most of the sandstone host rock. Local rocks include rocks of the Morrison Formation.
Workings include underground openings comprised of an adit.
Production was 28 tons @ 0.18% U3O8; 1.80% V2O5 (1950). Total of 3,507 tons of ore @ 1.86% V2O5 mined for vanadium content in 1943-1944 from VCA West Reservation plots 1 & 6-15. Also, minor production from here included
with VCA West Reservation plot 6 total.
