A former underground U-V occurrence/mine located in T36N, R29E, (approximate E½ sec. 24, T36M, R28E ), G&SRM, 3.4 kmk (2.1 miles) S of White Ash Peak (coordinates of record).
Mineralization is tyuyamunite and carnotite in lenticular masses hosted in Late Jurassic mudstone and sandstone of the Salt Wash Member of Morrison Formation. Ore bodies occur in units showing the most rapid variation in thickness in the Salt Wash member of the Morrison formation. Ore is disseminated in fine-grained sandstone and as fracture coatings about 15 feet above the base of the Salt Wash Member. Three feet of red-gray mudstone caps the ore zone - scattered with barren tree remains. Local rocks include rocks of the Glen Canyon Group.
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of 4 adits 10 to 120 feet long, a 100 foot drift, and 1,000 feet of rim stripping.
Production was 80 tons of ore @ 0.10% U3O8; 0.25% V2O5 (1956-1957).
Some resources may still be present.
