A former underground U-V occurrence/mine located in sec. 13, T36N, R28E, G&SRM, 1.6 km (1.0 mile) WSW of White Ash Peak and 2.9 km (1.8 miles) SSW of Mexican Cry Mesa and 1.0 mile NW of White Ash Peak.
Mineralization is tyuyamunite and carnotite in lenticular masses, replacements of woody matter, hosted in Late Jurassic mudstone and sandstone of the Salt Wash Member of the Morrison Formation. The ore body and pockets are horizontally lenticular in cross-section and parallel paleostream depositional trends. Thin seams of mudstone and pebble conglomerate cut through host festoon-type, cross-bedded sandstone with abundant carbon matter. Ore in whitish, thin-bedded sandstone shows considerable disequilibrium with daughter products. Jointing is well defined. Ore bodies occur in units showing the most rapid variation in thickness in the Salt Wash member of the Morrison formation. Pascoite, pintadoite and hewettite may also be present. Local rocks include Glen Canyon Group.
Production was 2,448 tons of ore @ 0.20% U3O8; 0.32% V2O5 (1956-1958).
Some resources may be left.
