A former underground U-V occurrence/mine located in the NE¼ sec. 20, T36N, R29E, G&SRM, 3.2 miles SE of White Ash Peak. NOTE: The geographic coordinates presented were taken from USGS MRDS database file #10027469. The USGS MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is tyuyamunite and carnotite in lenticular masses hosted in Late Jurassic mudstone and sandstone of the Salt Wash Member of the Morrison Formation. Mineralization is associated with paleostream channels. The ore body is 3.96 meters (13 feet) thick. Ore bodies occur in units showing the most rapid variation in thickness in the Salt Wash member of the Morrison formation. Local rocks include rocks of the Glen Canyon Group and/or Oligocene to Paleocene[?] sedimentary rocks.
Workings include underground openings comprised of over 4,000 feet of drifts and employing the room and pillar method of extraction. Connects with Mesa 2, P-21 Mine.
Production was 38,343 tons of ore @ 0.25% U3O8; 1.1% V2O5 (1956-1967).
Mineralization is largely depleted.
