A former V-U occurrence/mine located in the W½ sec. 27, T37N, R28E, G&SRM, (approximate S-center sec. 21, SW¼ sec. 28, N½ and SE¼ sec. 34,and S½ sec. 33, T38N, R28E) 7.7 km (4.8 miles) SW of Cove Mesa (coordinates of record). The property consists of 3 claims. The USGS MRDS database stated accuracy for this locality is 10 meters. NOTE: The geographic coordinates presented are taken from USGS MRDS database file #10185692.
Mineralization is tyuyamunite in irregular, tabular layers hosted in Late Jurassic claystone, siltstone and sandstone of the Salt Wash Member of the Morrison Formation. Ore is found in clusters, usually associated with carbonaceous detritus. The best mineralization is 70 to 90 feet above the Bluff Sandstone contact. Weak and irregular tyuyamunite-type specks and coatings in fine to medium grained sandstone. Local rocks include San Rafael Group and/or Glen Canyon Group.
Workings include surface openings comprised of rim cuts.
Production was 788 tons of ore @ 0.08%U3O8; 1.80% V2O5 (1949-1952, 1958).
