A former U-V occurrence/mine located in approximate sec. 7, T40N, R28E, G&SRM, 3.3 km (2.0 miles) NW of Black Rock Point (coordinates of record). T&R values are not presented for this location. Located by a single U.S. Atomic Energy Commission drill hole.
Mineralization is tyuyamunite in irregular tabular layers hosted in Late Jurassic claystone, siltstone and sandstone of the Salt Wash Member of the Morrison Formation, on the SW limb of the Toh Atin anticline. Ore is found in clusters, usually associated with carbonaceous detritus. Carnotite-type ore occurs in the basal Salt Wash Member with some petrified wood. Local rocks include rocks of the Morrison Formation.
Workings include underground openings comprised of 570 feet of adits, drifts and crosscuts.
Production was 25 tons of ore @ O.ll% U3O8; 1.30% V2O5 (1955).
