A former U-V occurrence/mine located in the approximate secs. 19 & 30, T39N, R31E, G&SRM, 1.0 mile SW of Cottonwood Canyon, near the New Mexico state line and adjacent to Syracuse (R,F&R) and Vanadium Corporation of America Plot 11. T&R values are not presented form this location.
Mineralization is tyuyamunite in irregular, tabular layers hosted in Late Jurassic claystone, siltstone and sandstone of the Salt Wash Member of the Morrison Formation. Ore is found in clusters, usually associated with carbonaceous detritus along the mudstone-sandstone contact, 40 feet above the Bluff sandstone. Local rocks include rocks of the Glen Canyon Group.
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of rim cuts and shallow adits with stoping parallel to the rim plus 19 exploratory drill holes.
Production was 36 tons @0.16% U3O8; 1.88% V2O5 (1955 & 1957). Some pre-1952 shipments may include production from adjacent VCA Plot 1l.
