Locality is in Upper Providence Township, near Collegeville, but not in Collegeville Borough. A short-lived but spectacular American amethyst locality discovered on a construction site for a pharmaceutical facility in 1991. It was described in the What's new in Minerals section of the Mineralogical Record (Vol. 22, pg. 384) as being discovered by a Virginia Polytechnic Institute student who was soil sampling in the area, and the news relayed to mineral collector Bryon Brookmeyer. Amethyst crystals to 30 cm (including sceptres) with varying degrees of clarity were recovered from hydrothermal quartz veins crosscutting Triassic Passaic Formation sandstones. A superb example collected by Brookmeyer is now in the collection of the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. The site was apparently covered in concrete within a week of collecting starting.

"This facility was built on a former, still surviving 19th C. farm near the interchange of US 422 and Route 29, and although the facility is massive, the property has a fairly large and undisturbed privacy setback, and campus which has also preserved the original Farmhouse, hedgerow, stone walls, several original stone outbuildings and maintained many former fields as natural meadow land as well as preserving the mature growth woodlands along Perkiomen Creek, as well as having purchased and additional 92 acres adjacent to the creek to remain permanent open space under their ownership, all of which may now someday also be developed and perhaps provide additional opportunities for collecting."
