A former Cu-Au-Ag occurrence/mine located in the S½ sec. 6, T38N, R1E, G&SRM, 0.9 km (0.5 mile) WNW of Jacob Lake (town), ½ to ¾ mile N of Jacob Lake (lake), on National Forest land. Owned by R. Gangestal, California (1948). Owned & operated by the Atherley Brothers, Arizona (1948). Mineral rights only owned by the U.S. Metals Corporation. Produced from 1942 until 1950. The USGS MRDS database stated accuracy for this locality is 1,000 meters.

Mineralization is a Cu-Au-Ag deposit hosted in Late Permian sandstone of the Kaibab Formation and limestone and includes secondary copper minerals occurring in favorable beds of cherty sandstone where intersected by vertical fissures. Local rocks include Permian sedimentary rocks.

This mine is in very close proximity to the Ryan, Petoskey and Mackin Mines. All of these mines are very similar, stratabound Cu deposits, with ore along vertical fissures. Fissures are associated with broad folds, and are contemporaneous with regional breccia pipe formation (Jurassic-Middle Cretaceous).

Workings include surface openings comprised of an open pit with about 7 feet of overburden. Mined a 20 foot wide zone 700 feet long in 1948.
