Crater lake (maar - 109 acres) on the North side of Puy de Montchal (1411m) volcano.
Lake alluvions : Silty annual laminae rich in diatoms. This maar lake is ferruginous (total Fe(II) concentrations reaching more than 1 mM) and displays very low free sulfide concentrations. Manganese and iron phosphates.
