"Paraphrased from a book" A precious opal (lode claim) prospect located in the SW 1/4 Section 16 and NW1/4 of Section 21,T45N R26E MDM, Virgin Valley Mining District.

Originally located in 1970 by Royal Peacock Opal Mines Inc., and part of the Joy-Lu Group of mining claims. Subsequently acquired by Jim D. Marks and Leona Rogers of Denio, Nevada, and held as a valid claim until about 1990 when the claim was invalidated by the BLM. Relocated and renamed as the Joy Lu #55 claim by its prior owners, Jim Marks and Leona Rogers, in 1991.

Officially surveyed by BLM in 1988 as part of Mineral Survey #5028. The claim is generally located on the south side of Virgin Valley between the Rainbow Ridge and Royal Peacock Mines. Reported to have been commercially worked in the 1970's. The mining claim is underlain by in-place, horizontal ash, tuff, and tuffaceous sandstone beds.

The deposit has much petrified wood and occasional precious opal as vein fillings and casts. Some fine precious white conk opal with green play-of-color was found here in the early 1990's. Jim Marks' claim to the deposit expired and the locality has been relocated several times by various other parties, including Don Buford et. al., in 2005, and by others afterwards. It is currently owned by John Church owner of Swordfish Mining.
