Deposit: Placer; most productive part of the canyon extended from about the 5900 foot contour down to the 5500 ft. Contour. The placer deposits in most of the major canyons draining the district have yielded gold each year since discovery; the most productive periods were 1913-22, 1932-39, and 1947-55. Box canyon placer deposits were discovered about 1909. First production was 38.34 oz in 1910 by c. Miller from the grandview claims. The many claims are treated collectively here. Geology: Placer channel is 30-50 ft. Wide at widest part near the minnie mine, and narrows up & down the canyon
