Deposit: 197 acre property medium brown hornfels with quartz veinlets. Ground appears to be highly sheared in places and quartz veinlets may be associated with these shears. Rock around base of ore bin is composed of what looks like a diorite dike, also with quartz veinlets. Cinnabar was discovered here on so. Pacific land in 1941. The 197 acre property was bought by m. Estridge, and a 40-ft. Inclined shaft was sunk, with no production. After estridge's death, the property reverted to humboldt county from whom it was bought in 1950 by c. Kassebaum, who recovered a small amount of hg using a retort & condenser in 1953. In 1955, lessees davey and bengo bros. Drove a 310-ft adit and raise and built a crusher, stamp mill and 2 concentrating tables at stone corral, 2 1/2 miles e. Of the corral where they planned to concentrate the cinnabar before roasting. ; info.src : 1 pub lit; 3 field observ

Geology: Cinnabar mineralization is most intense in the 90-ft wide alteration zone in fault zone. Cinnabar occurs in brecciated quartz and calcite veinlets along fault contact. Cinnabar grains also occur in fractured & altered rock, and in apparently barren rock where it is very fine-grained.
