Placers were worked in the ravines on the west side of rosebud peak in 1911. In 1933 a 500 cu. Yd. Plant was operating; and in 1934, maurice constant began assembling claims, and over the years until his death in 1964, he acquired all the claims which make up the current property. It was worked 1934 with a mill 1933-1939-placers were worked continously both by individuals and companies 1939 -1940-3008 oz Au were produced (probably on eastern portion of webanke claim group) 1942-1960-the u.s. Development: Benjamin j. Constant, sr., president of lakeshore and his associates held 22000 acres of placer ground near barrell springs in summer of 1964. Quade reported in 1984 an active placer operation at barrel springs. In 1942 the USBM investigated the placers As a possible source of tin, but determined tin content to be too lo W to have economic importance. Also only trace amounts of scheelite and huebnerite were present in the concentrate. Pacific exploration did a feasibility study on the gold placer in 1980-81, covering a 5 sq. Mile area (22,000 acres); they dug 2 test pits and 250 back hoe trenches. A test lot of 5300 cu yds. In 1980 produced 28 oz. Au. Test lots processed in 1982 by per cu. Yd., averaging $1.11/cu. Yd-based on gold at $350/02., property was purchased by victor industries in 1981 who planned to mine it. Immediately. Obtained by silverlake resources in 1983 in a joint venture with agricola mineral appraisals.
