Wheelbarrow Mine
Sec 2 T34N R34E. Copper mine
Alteration: Silicification Of Hornfels
Deposit: Mineralization occurs in narrow quartz veins in rhyolite and shale. This record has been merged with w700439 and m232616, which have been deleted. Note: previous mrds record m232616 referred to a marietta mine, but major references call site the wheelbarrow mine, which is what it is called on 1982 woody canyon topographic map.
Deposit type: Low-sulfide Au-quartz vein
Development: 4 unpatented claims - one of the older properties in the district.
Geology: Diorite intrusive exposed at portal of western adit, south of road. Contact cannot be seen in road cut or on the hillside to the north. Diorite must be a dike (tingley, unpublished mrds notes), fingering out to the north. Hornfels crop out both east and west of the vein zone and forms bold outcrops in contrast to weathered diorite. Dumps contain white quartz.
