A former Ag-Pb-Cu-Au-Zn occurrence/mine located in the N½NW¼NE¼ sec. 26, T1N, R67E, MDM, 1 mile SE of Pioche, on private land. Owned by the Pioche Mines Company (1932-). The property was idle in 1926 and the workings were inaccessible. USGS MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.

The Poorman Mine was an early 20th century silver-lead operation, not particularly big, but it did have some very rich ore. For much of its history, The Poorman was a locally owned family type operation. There is no evidence that it was ever incorporated.

The mine was worked in the 1940’s by the Cotino brothers, Al and Vic, of Pioche. They had a lease on it and had driven a drift west of the main shaft that struck a fairly rich vein 18—20 inches wide (verbal communication from Bob Werner of Pioche with Al Cotino a number of years ago before he passed away).

The headframe, hoist-compressor, and house all burned to the ground in a fire in 2006. More recently, the property has been owned by the Arabian-American Development Company.

Mineralization is a polymetallic deposit hosted in Early Cambrian quartzite. The ore body is tabular, strikes N70E and dips dips 40S. The ore occurs in one chief vein, with an irregular series of small veins, striking N40-70W, and dipping 45E. The ore is a siliceous Ag-Pb variety. The Pb occurs as carbonate. Notable surface feature is an immense knob of quartzite breccia occurring W of the main shaft. The ore veins are nearly vertical dipping and have been abruptly cut off at the 200 level due to a thrust fault. The continuation of the ore was never located, but likely lies to the NW some distance. Local rocks include Quartzite and minor amounts of conglomerate, phyllitic siltstone, limestone, and dolomite.

Workings include underground openings including a shaft.

Production of $300,000 (period values) reported in 1926.
