Structure: Vertical Fracture 300 Ft Sw Of Shaft, N15e, Cotting Vein At Depth; Slips
Deposit: Ore consists of Ag-cu material, oxidized. On same e- W may day fissure As main bristol orebody, at intersections with n-s fissures and at intersection with at least one steeper but parallel fissure of the tempest set. Dip of fissure flattens from near 75 at surface to 40 or less below 200 ft.
Deposit type: Polymetallic replacement
Development: Hillside was principal supplier of ore to the bristol wells smelter in late 1870's and early 1880's. That smelter operation ceased due to a small amount of sulphur in ore causing cu and Ag loss in slag. Then a pan amalgamation site was built at toeder mill site and 10,000 tons of hillside ore was treated. Then the mill shut down and ore and slag from smelter was sent to salt lake. In 1877, the hillside co was organized to take over a mg. Steele's properties including the hillside mine
