Fluorite mineralization is of "hydrotheral vein" type, hosted within Norian "MAIN DOLOMITE" (Dolomia Principale of Norian age). Hydrotermal fluids were stoped at top of the Dolomite, encountering the poorly permeable shaly rock named Riva di Solto Shales (Rethian age). Fluids uprised along a fault system which has associated paleo-geographic evidences of syn-Norian to Rethian activities beacuase delimitating the Brembilla-Valtaleggio basin (west) from the "San Pellegrino-Val Brembana" paleohigh (east). This fault system has been for sure reactivated during the compressional phase which led to the formation of the South Alpine Fold & Thrust Belt. despite the lack of direct age dating is not unlikely that the hydothermal event could be related to a thermal peak connected to the second phase of Western Thetys rifting (approximately from latest Norian to end of Pleisbachian)
After abandonment of the mining activities, some adits where mis-used as waste deposits. A project for an at least partial reabilitation is currently planning.
Land property was bought in 2014 by Federico Pezzotta and his brother Stefano (according to announcement of "[MSA-talk] Mineral Talks Live-February 3 (Federico Pezzotta, Natural History Museum of Milan)" on 29 January 2021).
