A large underground platinum mine, one of the largest platinum reserves in South Africa. Located on Maandagshoek 254 KT, Driekop 253 KT, Hendriksplaat 281 KT, Onverwacht 292 KT and Winterveld 293 KT farms 15 km north-northwest of Burgersfort. The farm owner Andries Lombaard panned platinum in 1924 and discovered the Merensky Reef outcrop.
