A former underground Au-Ag mine located in sec. 10, T9S, R14W, 6 road miles S of Mohawk, on the western slope of the Mohawk Mountains, on a military reservation. Owned by Mr. G.E. Tavasci.
Mineralization is coarse-grained biotite schist that strikes SE and dips 30ºNE & is cut by a few dikes of aplite and pegmatite. A steeply southward-dipping fault zone contains a vein, up to 10 or more feet (3.05 meters) wide. It consists of limonite, breccia & scattered bunches of quartz. The quartz is dense, vitreous & brecciated and contains limonite & calcite within fractures and cavities. It carries a little gold.
Workings include more than 300 feet (91.44 meters) of tunnels. No production record.
