An abandoned and filled in quarry, west of Bellefontaine, section 5, SE ¼, Harrison Township. Carlson (1991) described the locality as an “Old Quarry” west of Bellefontaine.

Moses (1922) described the locality as a quarry of the Niagara Stone Products Company that was used for railroad ballast, flux stone and concrete work. Moses (1922) observed calcite crystals in cavities in the Lucas Dolomite and Columbus Limestone Formation. Stout (1941) later visited the site to validate Moses’ (1922) claims.

After viewing aerial photographs of the quarry’s location, it appears that material was filled in the quarry voids from 1959 to 1972.
