This property is crossed by the Lusk Creek fault zone. Locally this zone consists of a very complex system of faults produced by the junction of the southwestward continuation of the Shawneetown zone of thrust faulting and the Herod normal fault. As a result the rocks are broken into many narrow slivers which are variously displaced with respect to each other. The Rock Candy mine is one of the few which has produced fluorspar from a vein walled by Pennslyvanian sandstone. The ore from this mine is high in silica and low in galena and sphalerite (Weller et al., 1952).
The Rock Candy Mountain (mine) was a shaft mine operated by the Inland Steel Co. (Weller et al., 1952) and is currently abandoned. Coordinates are provided by Nelson et al., (2016).
