A former surface placer Au mine/deposit area in the vicinity of Placerita, French & Arrastre Creeks, near Wagoner and about 11 miles SSE of Kirkland. Placers were worked in sec. 13, T11N, R4W, and sec. 17, T11N, R3W.
The gulches of this vicinity have dissected a northeastward-sloping pediment whose general elevation is less than 5,000 feet above sea level. This pediment, which has been carved upon granite, diorite, and steeply-dipping schist, is locally mantled by gravels and lavas. It contains many small gold-bearing quartz veins. Erosion of such veins probably furnished the gold of the placers.
