A mine connected with the Van lode, situated on the left bank of the Clywedog, a short distance to the east of the Aberdeunant Mine and about three miles to the north west of the town. "One of the oldest mines in the Parish" it has been worked by Mr. Harries, Mr. Gell, brothers Robert and Richard Smith, Mr. Hancock, Mr. Lefeaux, and Mr. Roach. In 1892 it was owned by The Van Consols Barytes and Lead Mining Company.
The site is widely signposted as a Mining Heritage location and the buildings adjacent to the river have been repaired and plaques attached. Of particular interest are the ore bins made up up worked slabs of slate as much as 1.5m x 1m area and 100mm thick.

However taking the footpath (track) up the hillside at the back of the site brings you to a gate into a field. To the left is a grassed over tip and on the level above it 2 small pits and the circular ruined wall of the magazine shown with a label on the 1886 Ordnance Survey map. Continuing along the footpath (farm track) 2 tips can be seen in the field below the track. And when almost at the farm there is a place where water pours from the face of the cutting to the left of the track and is very likely the position of a level from which the material was extracted.
The incline shown on the Ordnance Survey maps is delineated across the field by the line of a hedge. This leads down to further mine ruins and tips beside the river.
