A former surface and underground Baryte-Fluorspar-Cu-Ag-Au mine located on 12 contiguous unpatented claims (Matcotte Nos. 1 through 12), in sec. 13 & 14, T8S, R21E, 12 miles SE of Klondyke, on private land. Originally located about 1900; J.D. Matthews relocated the group in 1934; then, A.J. Macotte relocated it in 1956. First produced 1904. Claims also extend into secs. 14 & 24.

Mineralization involves a thrust fault in volcanic agglomerate. The ore zone is 2.44 meters wide. Several baryte-bearing veins occur in parallel fault fractures traversing a volcanic agglomerate formation. Strike of the veins is approximately N45-65W, and are either vertical or steeply dipping to the NE. Ore concentration was exotic copper minerals leaching up through the thrust fault and through Miocene thrust plate.

Area structures are two NW-trending, post-mineralization faults that offset the vein.

Workings include a shaft, once known as the Kinney Kye Mine, some 50 years ago (1960), is 420 feet deep, with two drifts at unknown depths. There is baryte 4 to 6 feet wide all the way down the shaft. There are two pits 200 feet NW from the shaft, both about 10 feet deep. The workings achieved a depth of 128.02 meters. Production occurred in 1904 from a shaft >300 feet deep. Analytical data results: 71.1% BaSO4; 6.4% CaF2; 1.3% CaCO3; 0.80 oz/ton Ag; 0.08 oz/ton Au.
