Terry Uranophane prospect; Hanosh property
The workings consist of trenches and small cuts on the west side of a low ridge where a quartz monzonite sill intrudes a sequence of sandstones and limestones. Uranium minerals are found associated with silica and fluorite. Radiation has made the fluorite so dark in color as to appear nearly black. The fluorite contains small cavities, commonly 1/8th inch (0.32cm), with bright yellow needles of uranophane. Given the small size of this prospect the published descriptions given by Bassett (1954) and Granger (1956) are quite comprehensive.
Alteration: Silicified Limestone
Deposit: Deposit occurs in a structural feature described as a fault breccia or a collapse breccia. Four unpatented claims.
Geology: For regional geology see Sierra Cuchillo district.
Ore(s): Mineralized solution associated with intrusive mass localized in breccia structure.
