A Mn occurrence/mine located in the NW¼ sec. 2, T26N, R7W, G&SRM, 13.8 km (8.6 miles) SSE of Frazier Wells, 3 miles SE of the Hualpai Indian Reservation boundary line, on state and private lands (state lease; private lease). Operated by E. H. Johnson and R. E. Hayden, Arizona (1973); and by the Bosley Mining Company, Arizona (1973). A small past producer discovered in 1952.
Mineralization is a Mn deposit hosted in the Late Permian Kaibab Limestone
The ore body is 7.62 meters wide and 91.44 meters long. The ore is in irregular masses and seams that follows NE-striking fractures or brecciated zone. The fracture zone on the surface ranges from 10 to 30 feet in width, strikes NE, and is exposed in places along the strike for over 1,000 feet. Local rocks include Permian sedimentary rocks.
Workings include surface and underground openings with an overall depth of 12.19 meters, and are comprised of a centrally located crosscut adit with 2 short drifts and several pits on each side of the adit.
Production statistics: Year: 1952 (estimate): ^28% Mn; Year: 1953 (estimate): ^24% Mn. In August, 1954, the deposit was still producing small quantities of ore.
