Structure: There Is A Fault On The Southwest Slope Of The Ridge Which Strikes North-Northwest.
Deposit: Discovery year: 1840's there are several dikes in the area. There is no definite strike direction given for the main dike, although jahns (1946, p. 166) says the dike can be traced diagonally along the north wall of the canyon from a point near the bottom of the canyon to a point on a steep ridge 150 ft higher and 450 ft to the east. There is a remnant of what may have been the south limb of an inverted trough located in the canyon bottom. The apache mine has the largest production record of any mine in the petaca district. Geology: The deposit occurs in the petaca schist member of the ortega quartzite.
