An H5 type olivine-bronzite chondrite meteorite, estimated to weigh 20 kg, fell about 4:00 P.M. on September 23, 2003. The mass penetrated a residence, landing in a crawl space beneath the house. Many smaller fragments were found in nearby streets and yards after a systematic search by University of New Orleans Department of Geology and Geophysics (MP²) students used magnets to scour the gutters, yielding about 100 grams of additional material.

Olivine composition (Fa17.7) and orthopyroxene composition (Fs17.2) are consistent with those of the H-group (high total iron) of ordinary chondrites. Currently 171 meteorite of the relatively well equilibrated H5 petrologic type are listed at the Meteoritical Bulletin Database (2015) making them the most numerous petrological type among H group ordinary chondrites, the 2nd most abundant geochemical group (366 records) and accounting for over 30% of fully classified meteorite falls.

Terminology Caveat: Many contemporary terrestrial geologists refer to olivine with ≥ 50 mol% forsterite 50 and orthopyroxene with ≥ 50 mol% enstatite as 'Forsterite' and 'Enstatite,' respectively, as in the posted Mineral List. However, it may be helpful to know that within the meteoritical literature these terms are used almost exclusively for extremely iron-poor olivine and iron-poor orthopyroxene.
