Bełchatów coal mine
Huge open-pit lignite mine. The lignite is fired in the nearby Bełchatów Power Station, Europe's largest coal-fired power station.
The mine is also a palaeontological site (Miocene sediments with fossil plants; a fragment of a crocodile was also found).
