A former surface and underground Cu-Ag-Au-Pb mine located in the NW¼ sec. 34, T.9N., R.2W. (Copperopolis 7.5 minute topo map), 2 miles NE of Briggs on 5 or 7 claims at 3,200 feet of altitude. Owned by R.D.O. Johnson (1926). Claims extend into the E½E½NE¼ of sec. 33.
Mineralization is a post-Tertiary vein. Country rock consists of granite & pegmatite, greatly oxidized. The ledge seems to be 100 feet wide with many seams. It strikes N.60ºW. & dips SW. Below the outcrop the rock is andesite for 400 feet to where the so-called 'great lead vein' crosses. This zone is perhaps 75 feet wide. The ledge matter contains granitic material. Ore control was faulting and shearing. Ore concentration was oxidation at near surface. Alteration was minor Fe-staining.
Area structures include veins parallel to low-angle (less than 40 degree dip) faults which trend NW. Foliation in Precambrian schist trends N20E to N50E. Tertiary volcanics dip E and strike NW.
Workings include a 200 foot shaft on the upper outcrop (1880).
