An occurrence in the Camp Verde area. The occurrence is within a wash just west and north of the famous Camp Verde salt mine. Infrequent rains bring crystals down the wash near Salt Mine Road but the best pseudomorphs are to be found further north in the wash where they weather from soils along the banks and walls of the wash. Three types of pseudomorphs are known and include aragonite, calcite and gypsum pseudomorphs after glauberite. The aragonite and calcite pseudos are far more common in Copper Canyon while the white gypsum pseudos are much more common at the former mine site. The aragonite pseudos are often composed of spiky aragonite crystals faithfully replacing original glauberite crystals---these fluoresce a cream color under shortwave UV light. The calcite pseudos are a cream to yellowish color and can be found as exceedingly sharp crystals in the bed of the wash and weather out at various places along the sides of the wash.

A bit of an addition with glauberite. Although it is listed for Copper Canyon, I have never seen any actual glauberite in the canyon. Also, the replacements are complete replacements and no glauberite remains at the cores of the crystals.
