A former Mn-Cu occurrence/mine located in the W½ sec. 18, T6S, R11E & in sec. 12, T6S, R10E, G&SRM, on 5 unpatented claims in or near Paisano Wash to the E of state highway 79, about 12 miles SE of Florence on the W flank of a knoll, on private land. Discovered in 1917. Owner-Operators were R. J. Edwards and Alex Garcia Coolidge of Arizona (1961).

Mineralization is a small deposit hosted in granite that occurs in a hill about 500 feet (160 meters) in diameter. The hill is composed of a coarse-grained hornblende granite with small remnant patches of red andesite. Three major parallel veins occur in coarse-grained granitic rocks. Where the granite is shattered, thin seams of Mn minerals extend out for several tens of feet. Several small fissure veins in the granite, veinlets and lenses in granite, which strike N20W & dip 70SW, contain the manganese ore. The overall ore zone is 0.91 meters wide and 182.88 meters long. Veins are from a few inches to 1 foot wide. The largest ore shoot is about 125 feet (40 meters) long. In places along the veins the granite is brecciated and the fragments are cemented by manganese oxides. Better ore was in lenses from 50 to 150 feet long and from several inches to 3 feet wide.

The manganese oxides are principally hard crusts of psilomelane, but softer oxides occur as the decomposition product of black calcite.

Local related structures include block faulting trending NNW. Regional trends include minor pre-Cretaceous E- and NE-trending folds and major post-Cretaceous NNW-trending faults.

Workings consist of surface and underground openings comprised of 3 shafts, several open cuts, and 3 short adits. The shafts are now inaccessible.

Production was two carloads of ore (about 74 tons) produced in early 1917. Production was alleged during the WWII period, but unconfirmed. Cu content of the ore exceeded acceptable specifications for Mn ore, so after 1953, no further shipments occurred.
