Coal mine operated between 1906-1918. The only known commercial coal mine in Nebraska. The coal seam was, at most 36-38" thick, in Pennsylvanian rocks, about 4 miles southeast of Peru. During it's 12 years of operation (until the coal seem pinched out), low to medium grade bituminous coal was produced for sale to surrounding towns.
