The North Hill mine (Blackburn Brother Ltd), mined from 1908 to 1925 for Phlogopite (Amber Mica).

The North Hill main inclined shaft 6 x 8 feet rectangular timbered for a distance of 40ft from the surface to the depth of 325 feet with 6 level space 50ft apart starting at 60ft and drifting has been done for a distance of 300ft. A Shaft house was erected, and the pit equipped with an inclined slipway taking cars of one ton capacity. The method of working at the North Hill contrast to the quarry methods so generally employed in phosphate and mica mining, and is an example of how a deposit of this nature may be developed to the best advantage. Although supposedly on a public road, the road (chemin Mica), as of spring 2026, has been barricaded and private property and no trespassing signs have been put up so that the mine is no longer accessible.
