A volcanic diatreme that is approximately 200 million years old. The reason why it’s called diamond hill is because a local believed he found a diamond on the hill. No one ever seen this so called diamond. It’s believed to be xenocryst and not a diamond.
Many companies between the 1960s and 1980s applied for licences but were all rejected. In 1977 Kurrajong Aggregates Pty LTD submitted a quarry application to the Colo Shire Council but was rejected. The company tried again in 1978 with the State government. Locals submitted a rejection petition for this application and it was again rejected.
