This is/was a classic place to find shark teeth. The quarry showed a transgression layer, were the sand has been washed away with time. Many of the teeth were rolled. On Belgian shows, there is always a booth with teeth from that locality. Unfortunately, due to accidents, the access is now prohibited.
The story goes (not verified by me) that the quarry was open during weekends. Many collectors went there to find teeth. There have been minor accidents, but the quarry was still accessible. But one day, the quarry owner went to scoop sand with his digger, when he saw two boots sticking out of the quarry wall. A collector had dug a tunnel on the teeth layer and the tunnel collapsed. The collector suffocated under the tons of sand above him. Since then, the quarry is closed for collectors.
The sand produced was from the Lediaan epoch.
