Located 13-19 km southwest of the Haenertsburg goldfield. At one time there was five operating mines and some smaller diggings in the Strydpoort mountains. Hosted in a variety of lithologies from the lower contact of the Chuniespoort Group in the west, the Black Reef Formation sediments to the Goudplaats Gneiss in the east. These deposits are all thought to be associated with the Welcome Mine fault which is thought to be an extensional growth structure which was active during the deposition of the Wolkberg Group and the Black Reef Formation [1].
