White Rock Springs is a historic and once prolific thunderegg locality. The deposit has underwent numerous rock slides, causing the thundereggs to be found in discontinuous pockets instead of along any strata. The majority of the thundereggs from the locality have featureless reddish-brown→yellowish-brown carnelian cores or partial cores, but some rarely show fortification banding, parallel banding, trace blue agate, and/or mossy plume-like inclusions. White Rock Springs thundereggs have characteristic, tan→light brown colored, aphanitic, rhyolite shells with some trace phenocrysts. The site is now closed to collecting as it is on the edge of the protected Mill Creek Wilderness area and specimens from this locale are becoming scarce.
