The Koepel quarry ("Dome quarry") is a marl quarry in the Dutch municipality of Valkenburg aan de Geul in South Limburg. The underground quarry is located in Geulhem in the Bergse Heide slope forest on the northern edge of the Margraten Plateau in the transition to the Geuldal. At the site, the plateau plunges steeply for several meters.
The entrance to the Studenten quarry is located approximately 30 meters to the east, the Heide quarry is located approximately 200 meters to the east, the Barakken quarry is located approximately 250 meters to the southeast, the entrance to the Amor quarry is located approximately 110 meters to the west and approximately 360 meters to the west are the entrances to the Geulhem quarry and the Rock Dwellings of Geulhem.
In Roman times, the Koepel quarry was said to have already been mined by block breakers.
The former access to the Koepel quarry ran over the walking path west of Wolfsdriesweg 8, which used to be wider.
The Koepel quarry consists of a large dome with numerous side passages. The quarry is considered a small quarry with an area of 2240 square meters.
From the quarry there is a connecting corridor with the Geulhem quarry and the Amor quarry.
The Koepel quarry is used as a storage facility for the restaurant in the adjacent Studenten quarry.
In 2017, the quarry was examined for safety and approved.
