The Frieda deposit is a long-closed thunderegg deposit located above Dant, near a railroad siding 13 miles up the Deschutes River from Maupin, Oregon.
The deposit shows a variety of thunderegg colours & forms, and is noted for its rare, but aesthetic “Frieda Green Moss” agate thundereggs.
The Frieda deposit is sometimes referred to as the “Frieda Bed.”
Dant & Rusell, Inc. operated a former commercial perlite mine in the area.
