The Essen district of Schuir [ʃyːɐ] in district IX Werden/Kettwig/Bredeney is predominantly agricultural and the most sparsely populated district of Essen. Most residents live right on the border to Essen-Bredeney in the only housing estate in Schuir. Schuir is located north of the Ruhr between the districts of Haarzopf in the north-west, Bredeney in the north-east, Werden in the south-east and Kettwig in the south-west.
