Recently opened large sulphur mine.
The Osiek sulfur mine is the only mine in the world that extracts sulfur by underground smelting. It is located near the town of Osiek. The "Osiek" sulfur deposit lies on the right bank of the Vistula River and is the western part of the sulfur complex stretching from Niekrasów and Osiek through Baranów Sandomierski to Skopania. It is associated with the Miocene series of chemical sediments, the sulfur-bearing rocks are the complex of limestone and calcareous-marly rocks.
At present, the Osiek Sulfur Mine produces liquid sulfur and granulated sulfur.
